Promoted to temporary Second Lieutenant whilst serving with the Corps of Royal Engineers. Reid entered politics after leaving the Royal Air Force and served as a Member of Parliament for many years.
Listed as "Alec Stratford Reid" in the birth registry and listed in several New York passenger lists and London telephone directories (1929-31) "Capt. Alec S.C. Reid." Also appears as "Alec Cunningham-Reid" in the Supplement to the London Gazette, 13 November 1914 and 24 Novmeber 1914. |

When engaging a column of infantry at a very low altitude, this officer saw a hostile balloon on the ground. This he attacked and burnt. On the two following days he shot down two aeroplanes, and a few days later destroyed a third." |
