Air Force Cross (AFC)
The Air Force Cross (AFC) was awarded to officers and warrant officers for an act or acts of valour, courage or devotion to duty whilst flying, though not in active operations against the enemy. The decoration was also granted to individuals who were not in the Air Force but rendered distinguished service in aviation in actual flying.

For services during the Great War, the London Gazette announced the award of the Air Force Cross (AFC) to members of the flying services 679 times:
