Criteria: |
Bestowed upon the sick and wounded during World War I, the Wound Medal was awarded with a plain ribbon to seriously ill recipients.
For recipients wounded in combat, up to five red stripes were added to the medal's ribbon, with each stripe signifying an instance in which the recipient was wounded.
