With his first victory, Luigi Olivari scored Italy's second air combat victory. Although he claimed 19 enemy aircraft, most of them were unconfirmed and 1919 he was officially credited with eight victories. Olivari was killed in a crash when his SPAD VII stalled during take-off on the morning of 13 October 1917.
