William Thomas Smith joined the Royal Engineers in 1914. Post-war, he emigrated to Australia and was living in St. Kilda before he joined the Royal Australian Air Force at Melbourne. He served with the RAAF (#10131) from 11 April 1940 until 24 October 1946.
