British flying ace Albert Ball was buried with full military honors by the Germans at Annoeullin. He is the only English aviator buried in the German section of the cemetery. The headstone in the picture above was purchased by Ball's father. To this day, Ball's grave is maintained by relatives of Cecille Deloffre, the girl who found him when he crashed in a cornfield near Annoeullin.
