In 1918, Clement Graham Boothroyd scored 12 victories with 20 Squadron as a Bristol F.2b observer. On 23 October 1918, he and pilot Horace Lale scored two victories when they were attacked by 15 enemy fighters. Boothroyd transferred to the reserve in 1922 and resigned his commission in December 1926.

   An officer of high courage. On 23rd October, after attacking with bombs a railway station the formation with which this officer was flying was engaged with about fifteen enemy scouts; of these, he destroyed one and his pilot accounted for a second. In all he has to his credit eight enemy aircraft and one kite balloon.
