Smaller and lighter than the Hannover CL.II, the Hannover CL.IIIa began appearing in the skies above the front in early 1918. With its unique biplane tail, this two-seater was very manoeuvrable and easy to fly. Primarily designed for reconnaissance, the CL.IIIa was also employed as an escort and close support plane.
