The son of William and Anne Patrick, William Donald Patrick was educated at the High School of Glasgow and the University of Glasgow. He joined the Royal Flying Corps, becoming a 2nd Lieutenant in July 1916. Posted to 1 Squadron in 1917, Patrick scored seven victories before he was shot down by ground fire over Messines on 10 April 1918. He was captured and interned at Holzminden for the duration of the war.
At the end of the Second World War, Patrick was one of the military tribunal judges that tried General Hideki Tojo and other Japanese officers for war crimes. |
