James McDonald scored eight victories as an observer with 22 Squadron. He came to the U. S. in the early 1920s and was appointed British Consul for Oregon in 1938. McDonald received the C. B. E. in 1956 and the O. B. E. in 1948 and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1967.
