John Douglas Lightbody was the son of John D. and Marjory Lightbody, of "Ardenlee," Portland Park, Hamilton, Lanarkshire. After claiming seven victories in October 1918, he was missing in action when his Sopwith Camel was shot down by a Fokker D.VII, near Melle.
