Hector Omdurman MacDonald was commissioned on 20 July 1917 and posted to 84 Squadron on 3 February 1918. Flying the S.E.5a, he was credited with six victories before he was injured in a crash on 6 July 1918. Several months later, he returned to duty and scored his final victory on 30 October 1918. After the war, MacDonald returned to South Africa and became a sugar grower. During World War II, he was killed in a crash while serving as an armaments officer in the South African Air Force. |
