A blacksmith's apprentice, Nülle joined the German Air Service on 1 December 1915. Gaining experience with FA 72 in 1916 and Kasta 23 in 1917, he still held the rank of Flieger when he joined Jasta 39 on 28 April 1918. During the month of September, he downed seven balloons and two enemy planes. Nülle scored his last two victories on the afternoon of 6 November 1918, downing two D.H.9's near Ibingen.
