Meinecke was a aircraft mechanic before he attended flight school. After training he became an instructor and was eventually sent to the Dardenelles where he achieved his first victory flying the Fokker E.III. After the war, he was employed as a mechanic and test pilot by the Fokker Aircraft Company in Holland. Following World War II, he assisted the U.S. Air Force with the Berlin Airlift before emmigrating to Canada in 1950.
