Dörr entered the army in 1908, serving with the infantry until he transferred to the German Air Force in 1915. One of the oldest aces of the war, he was 31 years old when he achieved his 35th victory. Although he was recommended for the Blue Max, the war was over before it could be awarded. He was killed in a flying accident.
