One of three brothers to serve in the German Air Force during World War I, Harry was discharged from the service following the death of his brother Walter. Having scored 6 victories with Jasta 36, he returned to the family estate at Bothkamp. During World War II, Harry served as a fighter pilot in the Luftwaffe and is believed to have scored additional victories.
