Gustav Douchy scored nine victories flying Nieuport scouts with Escadrille 38. He was killed in a crash in Madagascar in 1943.

"A pilot of remarkable skill, a model of devotion, courage and spirit. On 23 August 1916, with four other pilots of his Escadrille, he resolutely attacked a group of ten enemy planes, putting them to flight; during the course of the pursuit, he downed one of them. Already cited twice in orders." Médaille Militaire citation, 24 September 1916

"Non-commissioned officer of the highest value; model of courage and devotion to duty. For 18 months, during the course of numerous missions for the army and on long distance reconnaissances, he has demonstrated the full measure of the remarkable sang-froid and spirit that he always gives to the most difficult tasks. He has had more than 60 combats during the course of which he downed 7 enemy planes. On 4 September 1917, he reported his 8th victory. Médaille Militaire for feats of war. Cited in orders 7 times."
