Condemine entered the army on 10 February 1914. Recovering from wounds received in action on 29 July 1917, he transferred from the infantry to the French Air Service in December 1917. Joining Spa154 on 22 August 1918, Condemine was credited with 9 victories, all of them balloons.

"Officer of remarkable bravery and audacity, many times he gave proof of his strength and sangfroid. He was severely wounded on 29 July 1917, but carried on in the face of a violent barrage to gain the objective to which he had been assigned. Already cited in orders."
