Joining an artillery regiment on 12 April 1915, Barcat was sent to Chartres for pilot training on 15 September 1917. He received a pilot's brevet on 28 November 1917 and joined Escadrille Spa155 on 11 February 1918. Reassigned to Spa 153 on 22 February 1918, Barcat scored five victories with this unit before he was killed in action.
