Living at Neville Court, St. John's Wood, N.W., London, Dennis Edward Francis Waight attended Beevors House, Aldenham from April 1910 to December 1912, playing football for the first XI in 1910-11. On 22 September 1914 he was promoted to temporary Second Lieutenant and was serving with the 12th Northumberland Fusiliers; in 1917 he was a Lieutenant in the 2nd Northumberland Fusiliers. He was awarded the Military Cross for his infantry service and transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in March 1918. In 1922, he was serving as a Captain with the 2nd Northumberland Fusiliers stationed at Nowsera, North Western Province, India. In 1948, the Aldenham school register listed him as a Major in the 2nd Northumberland Fusiliers.

Beevors House records showed his birth date as 5 February whilst the Death Index for England and Wales says 15 Feb. Married in the 2nd quarter of 1926 at St. Marylebone, London; wife's surname was Constant.
