After serving with the Royal Field Artillery for two years, Alexander George Vlasto, the son of Anthony Alexander Vlasto, transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in 1917. 2nd Lieutenant Vlasto received Royal Aero Club Aviator's Certificate 5213 on a Grahame-White biplane at Grahame-White School, Hendon on 9 September 1917. Posted to 46 Squadron, he scored eight victories flying the Sopwith Camel. He was transferred to the unemployed list on 31 January 1919. |
