"2nd Lieut. Edward Arthur Simpson.
On their return from a bombing raid, the formation, with which this officer was serving as an observer, was attacked by twenty five to thirty Fokkers. In the running fight that ensued, 2nd Lieut. Simpson, with marked coolness and judgment, shot down two machines in flames and caused two more to crash. He has displayed gallantry and courage in many bomb raids, and he rendered exceptional service during the Marne operations." |
