The son of Thomas and Mary Jane (Morley) Pearson, Flight Officer Laurence Herbert Pearson received Royal Aero Club Aviator's Certificate 5322 on a de Havilland biplane at Royal Naval Air Station, Fairlop on 15 September 1917. Flying the D.H.4 with 202 Squadron, he downed six enemy aircraft in 1918.
