Before the war, Walter Noble was a tea planter in India. He served with the 9th Battalion of the Essex Regiment before joining the Royal Flying Corps in September 1917 and scored 12 victories as a Bristol F.2b observer with 20 Squadron in 1918. Noble's book, With a Bristol Fighter Squadron, was published in 1920. |
