Alan Douglas Light joined the army in March 1915. From the Middlesex Regiment, he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in April 1917. Posted to 48 Squadron, he scored 8 victories flying the Bristol F.2b as an observer. Injured twice in crashes, he later became an airship pilot, serving in that capacity until the end of the war. In latter years, he planted rubber in Malaysia and served with the Royal Air Force during World War II. |
