With the Border Regiment, Charles Hubert Jeffs was promoted to Second Lieutenant (on probation) on 8 June 1916. After he was seconded to the Royal Flying Corps, he scored five victories before he was downed and captured on 5 October 1917. His S.E.5a was shot down by Bruno Loerzer of Jasta 26.
