George Rensbury Hicks was the son of George and Matilda Ann (Mizzen) Hicks of Woodford. Gazetted to the Royal Flying Corps on 3 November 1917. Flying the S.E.5a, he scored 8 victories including one Siemens Schuckert D.IV. He was wounded in action on 2 October 1918.
