The son of Reynell Wreford and Margaret Alice Hay, Hugh Allport Hay was educated at Armstrong College, University of Durham. As a Lieutenant with the 3rd West Yorkshire Regiment, he received Royal Aero Club Aviator's Certificate 5481 on 29 November 1917. Flying the Bristol Fighters with 11 Squadron, he scored five victories in 1918. |
