   The son of William and Kitty Nash, Gerald Ewart Nash joined the Royal Naval Air Service in 1915. Posted to 10 Naval Squadron in April 1917, he served with Raymond Collishaw's "Black Flight." Flying a Sopwith Triplane, Nash scored his first victory in May, then scored five more victories during the first week of June. On 25 June 1917, he was wounded in the leg and shot down by Karl Allmenröder of Jasta 11. Crash landing behind enemy lines in Belgium, he was captured by the Germans and spent the remainder of the war as a prisoner. He returned to Canada in 1919.
   During World War II, Nash served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and retired in 1945 with the rank of Group Captain. He died at a hospital in Welland, Ontario. He was 80.
