A law student when the war began, Acheson Gosford Goulding was the son of Rev. Arthur William and Martha Augusta (Wagner) Goulding. He joined the infantry in 1915 and served with the 28th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Belgium. After winning a battlefield commission he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in September 1916. He trained in England and was assigned to 17 Squadron in Egypt where he flew the B.E.12, Nieuport scouts and the S.E.5a. In 1918, his squadron merged with 47 Squadron to form 150 Squadron in Macedonia. Post-war he ran a construction business in Winnipeg. He returned to service with the Royal Canadian Air Force in May 1940 and was a staff officer of No. 2 Air Training Command and commanding officer of No. 18 S.F.T.S. at Gimli. He died in 1951 at the age of 57. |

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. While escorting a bombing squadron, he attacked and drove down a hostile two-seater machine. He showed great determination and gallantry on many other occasions.
