Henry Gordon Clappison served with the 91st Highlander Regiment before joining the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force in March 1917. 2nd Lt. Clappison was promoted to acting Captain on 14 October 1918. 2nd Lt. (acting Capt.) H. G. Clappison relinquished his commission due to ill health but retained the rank of Captain on 15 April 1919.
