The son of Edwin Bromley of Vancouver, British Columbia, Edwin Claude Bromley enlisted in the 4th Overseas Universities Company in September 1915. He was promoted to temp. 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) on 17 May 1917. Posted to 22 Squadron, he scored 12 victories flying the Bristol F.2b.
