The younger son of Windeyer George and Jane Lingham, George Alexander Lingham was born in Australia but was living with his mother and older brother in London by age 2. From the Inns of Court O.T.C., he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in 1916. In 1918, as a Sopwith Camel pilot with 43 Squadron, he scored six victories. Flying Officer Lingham was appointed a short service commission on 12 September 1919 but it was cancelled in the London Gazette, 10 October 1919. Lingham died in the Elmbank Nursing Home, Putney in 1982.
